A credit to our heritage was the verdict of Newton Abbot’s Mayor, Richard Jenks, as the Mid-Devon Advertiser was given a preview of the work done on the iconic building.
Cllr Jenks said he was greatly looking forward to opening the building on Saturday.
He said: ‘Newton’s Place is our town‘s community hub, the museum is a credit to our heritage and it will play a very important part in helping to shape our cultural quarter in the town centre.
‘It will attract visitors from all over the country who will contribute to our local economy along with our residents.
‘The is a project by the community for the community, a huge thank you is extended to all the volunteers, residents of Newton Abbot and the professional team that includes the staff and councillors who delivered the project. The National Lottery has been a terrific supporter with £950,000 of funding.
‘We have also received donations from local companies and residents and we are hugely grateful to all.‘
